Before I share my dino-riffic card, I want to give a big “THANK YOU!” to Judy Rozema at Freshly Made Sketches for selecting my card from last week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I loved the sketch, so it was really fun to play along with. I appreciate the inspiration from a great challenge, and it’s always wonderful to be recognized. This week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge gave me the opportunity to play with some new products from Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Annual Catalog. As soon as I saw this sketch, I knew I’d be cutting into this triangle-patterned Dinoroar Designer Series Paper. What fun! Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Dino for Days. Ready to have some fun? Take a pass through the Dinoroar Suite in Stampin’ Up!’s new catalog. The images and colors are so playful and fun – pinks, greens and blues on cartoon-like dinosaurs with watercolored features. If you’d like to see all the products that make up the Dinoroar Suite, click on the picture below:
My card featured three patterns from the Dinoroar Designer Series Paper – I used the Dino Dies to crop my brontosaurus and pterodactyl from a design with lots of colorful creatures (how fun that the images can be easily cropped with the dies). The colorful panels were cut directly from this paper. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Dinoroar Designer Series Paper:
Here’s a look at the Dino Days Bundle that coordinates with this suite (you can see the brontosaurus and pterodactyl dies here):
Is there anything bigger than dinosaurs? I grabbed the “dream big” sentiment from another new stamp set called Over the Moon that features some festive cows. Perfect for this dino-inspired project, don’t you think?
- Lots of Layers. As I describe above, I cropped my panels from two pieces of Designer Series Paper – using the trimmer lines to guide the cuts, I cropped the triangle-designed first, measured the width I needed for the second layer to best showcase the first layer. Together, these patterns work really well. Here’s a closer look:
Because the dinosaurs are cropped from Designer Series Paper, I cropped the same images from Thick Whisper White. I glued the two together to support the dinosaurs.
- Fun Colors for Boys & Girls. Boys and girls, alike, are intrigued by dinosaurs. It’s perfect, for that reason, that the papers are showcased with a mix of blues, greens and pinks. My “dream big” card (which includes a pink animal and a blue animal) would be perfect for any boy or girl. Super super card. Love your design, it is soooooo dynamic and I also like the use of the patterned papers. Bravo !!!!
🙂 Thanks, Linda! I had fun with these dinos! Glad you like the card.
This is an awesome card Brian, fun and colorful, those dinos are “terrifying” and adorable at the same time, and they look perfectly at home with that fabulous DSP in the background.
Thank you for sharing.
XO
Thanks so much, Maria! I loved this sketch and knew I wanted to fill it with these ferocious, sweet creatures. ♥
Cute card ! Love the colors and now I want that designer paper !
The pages are really fun. Thanks so much, Sonny! ♥
Dream big all right . . . the perfect sentiment. Love the critters and the most dino-riffic paper!
Such fun! Thanks, Mary! I was so happy to have this sentiment to go along with these big guys. ♥
You nailed this sketch challenge on ALL levels.
Thanks so much, Kadie! ♥
Well, duh! Why didn’t I think of that?? I haven’t cropped images out of DSP yet, but thought they would be flimsy. Uh, cut a piece of card stock to go behind! Maybe I would have thought of that… probably not! Lol! Love your card, those colors are great and I love how you used the triangles to frame the other DSP. The little tips you give us to cause us to look at our supplies differently-love it!
Thanks so much, Emily! I’m so happy to offer a different perspective. We all have tons of things to remember and think about – I’m happy I can share things that might not have crossed your mind. So appreciate your kind comments. ♥
I wasn’t crazy about this set. However you have won me over with your great card!
Thanks so much, Michelle! I was a bit on the fence about it, too, until I started playing. Thanks! ♥

Thanks so much, Robbye! This sweet paper did most of the work. 🙂
