All About the Promotion

This three-day sale is the perfect opportunity to stock up on every color of two-tone cardstock. Whether you’re making cards or a scrapbook spread, two-tone cardstock is a must-have crafting staple. Each piece of cardstock has a smooth texture for stamping and a white core that works great for techniques like tearing, sanding, crumpling, embossing, etc. More about those techniques in a bit…

More About Two-Tone Cardstock

Stampin’ Up!’s 12″ x 12″ Two-Tone Cardstock is two-sided with shades of the same color on each side (the 8-1/2″ x 11″ cardstock typically falls between the shades on either side of the two-tone papers). The ultrasmooth surface makes it an ideal paper for stamping, giving you clean, crisp images. Unlike our cardstocks, the two-tone papers have a white core, which allows for some fun techniques to showcase these papers. More on that in a bit…

With the release of Stampin’ Up!’s 2025 Annual Catalog, the company is offering Two-Tone Cardstock packs in EVERY color. Here’s a quick look at the colors that are available (12 sheets in each pack for $8 during the sale):

5 Fun Ways to Showcase Two-Tone Papers

Last night I hosted my monthly call with my InKing Royalty team. For the call, I pulled together a variety of fun ways to showcase the two-tone cardstock – and I’m happy to share them with you, too.

1 – Create patterns with the colors on both sides of the papers.

I cut 3/4″ strips of the Real Red Two-Tone Cardstock, and built a simple pattern with the strips, alternating the tones on either side of the paper.

5 Fun Ways to Use Two-Tone Cardstock, Stampin' Up!, Brian King (1 of 5 techniques)2 – Tear the cardstock to showcase the white core.

I tore this strip of Pool Party Two-Tone Cardstock to reveal the white core along the torn edge (on the left). I layered tears from both sides of the cardstock to create a pattern (on the right):

5 Fun Ways to Use Two-Tone Cardstock, Stampin' Up!, Brian King (1 of 5 techniques)3 – Sand away some of the color on the two-tone cardstock.

I used a sanding block to scrape away some of the color on this piece of Secret Sea Two-Tone Cardstock. I love that it adds distressed texture and creates a little frame of white around the panel.

5 Fun Ways to Use Two-Tone Cardstock, Stampin' Up!, Brian King (1 of 5 techniques)4 – Emboss and sand the two-tone cardstock.

If you can sand away the cardstock, then it makes sense that you can emboss the paper AND THEN sand it. What a gorgeous, distressed look! Here’s a look a three embossed/sanded patterns on Secret Sea two-tone cardstock:

5 Fun Ways to Use Two-Tone Cardstock, Stampin' Up!, Brian King (1 of 5 techniques)The pattern on the left is embossed with the Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder. The pattern on the right is embossed with the Painted Posies 3D Embossing Folder. Both are embossed with image emerging on the darker side of the cardstock. The middle pattern is embossed with the Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder. I sanded the embossed side (on the darker side of the paper) but flipped it over and sanded the debossed side (on the lighter side of the paper). I liked that side better with this embossing folder!

5 – Crumple the two-tone cardstock and rough up the edges.

The two-tone cardstock is lighter than our 8-1/2″ x 11″ cardstock and feels thicker than Designer Series Paper. I crumpled a piece of the Basic Black Two-Tone Cardstock a couple of times to create distressed and textured piece.

5 Fun Ways to Use Two-Tone Cardstock, Stampin' Up!, Brian King (1 of 5 techniques)It’s hard to see in this photo, but I roughed up the edges by scraping the sides with my Paper Snips and allowed some of the corners to fold over to reveal the color on the other side. If you adhere such a piece to your card, I suggest adding it with two or three strips of Tear and Tape in the center so that you don’t flatten the panel, forcing it to lose its texture.

Inspiration with these Techniques

I’ve showcased several of these techniques in projects over the years (with two-tone cardstock and the white-core cardstock that was offered for a short time in 2023 and 2024). You can click on any of these pictures to see my original post for each:

  1. Hi Brian
Thanks for the list and # of all the Two Tone multi packs!
I actually missed (2) lol good thing I have 2 more days!
I love that you listed all the numerous ways to use the Two Tone paper, which is a great way to let card makers know all the uses, especially if they are hesitant about buying them.

  2. Thank you for showing us ways to use the two-tone cardstock. Last week, I saw my sanding block and wondered how I used it. I can’t find it now. Too funny! Maybe it will pop up again soon. Enjoy your day!

    • Too funny, Hilda! I spend 95% of my crafting time looking for the thing I just had in my hand. 🙂 You’ll be happy you held on to it. ♥

  3. Great ideas!

  4. Thanks for the comprehensive lists. I got a few packs of two-tone CS but this is a great time to expand into more colors. The wealth of ideas for this paper’s creative use makes it less nerve-wracking for inexperienced stampers to give it a “go”.
Now I need a new sanding block!

  5. Thanks for the chart. I’m ordering more then I planned to. LOL. I also love all the samples. They are inspirational.
