An All-Fresh Freesia Floral Card

Oh, boy! You all showed up yesterday to let Mom know how much you loved her purple lighthouse card featuring the Scenic Coast Suite – thank you! You might think I’m piggybacking on the success of her project by sharing my own purple beauty today, but I’d never do such a thing. Never. 😉

Here’s an all-Fresh Freesia card I made with the Inked Floret stamp:

Inked Floret, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

The large floral image at the center of my card is the Inked Floret stamp, a single background stamp that debuted in July’s Online Exclusives. I already have several more projects in mind for this bold floral image, but there’s something especially sweet about this soft monochromatic version.

Here’s a look at the Inked Floret stamp:

To create the focal panel, I started with two pieces of Fresh Freesia Two-Tone Cardstock – one using the darker side and one using the lighter side. Using my Stampin’ Positioner, I stamped the floral image in exactly the same spot on both pieces.

Next, I cut the darker panel on a diagonal and adhered it over the lighter panel. It’s such a simple technique, but I love the contrast it creates while keeping everything soft and coordinated.

I finished the card with a bundle of Bubble Bath 1/8″ Faux Linen Ribbon and a sentiment from the Cutest Crew stamp set. Here’s a closer look:

Fresh Freesia

This card is a celebration of one of my go-to colors. It features three shades of Fresh Freesia – a Fresh Freesia cardstock base along with both the lighter and darker sides of Fresh Freesia Two-Tone Cardstock. The sentiment is stamped in Fresh Freesia ink to tie everything together.

Fresh Freesia first arrived as one of Stampin’ Up!’s 2021-2023 In Colors. It became so popular that it earned a permanent spot in the Subtles Collection when the color refresh debuted in 2023. I have a feeling many of us were pretty happy to see it stay!

Last Thoughts

There’s something incredibly satisfying about letting one color do all the work. By simply combining the two sides of the Two-Tone Cardstock, this card has plenty of interest without needing lots of extra layers or techniques. It’s proof that sometimes the simplest ideas create the prettiest results. I hope this inspires you to pull out your favorite color and see what you can create with it!
